Master Gibson!

Yesterday marked the official end of two years of postgraduate study! Here I am preparing.... The guy that declares us graduates, declaring us graduates...

Us standing to be declared graduates...

Waiting in line for my big moment...

Listening to my name being read....

Dip of the hat for the important guy...

Shake of the hand.. (He said "Congratulations Collette" he remembered my name!!)

Grabbing the certificate...

Yay!

My excited face...

Walking back to my seat...

All done...finding a good storage place....

Maybe i'll keep it:)

Hayden graduates from his Medical degree tomorrow...Big week for us both!

The proud mumsy...

and my support crew bestie....

It was a really valuable thing to do, but a lot of hard work! I'm glad the study/reading/assignments are finished!

My gripe for the day is that I have a Masters in Education, a two year post graduate degree on top of the four year Bachelor in Education degree I've already completed, this is SIX years of SPECIFIC study around education, being an educator and the best education for students.

My whine is that those that do an arts degree or engineering degree or business or science or whatever then two years of teaching on top of it now graduate as 'Masters in Teaching' they wore the same coloured hood as me, were in the same ceremony, and are often placed in the same category by those that don't remember that these students used to graduate as 'Bachelor of Teaching' students.

Maybe it's a pride thing and i'm wrong, but being confused with those that have not completed the same amount of study around education is frustrating.

It's really no reflection on the students, the difference in a 'masters of teaching' & 'master of education' is huge, yet the perception is that it's not. boohoo

anyone got any cheese for my whine?

Anyway I know what I've achieved, and i'm glad I did it... i'm also looking forward to NOT having to write assignments in my spare time next year. Perfect timing as I concentrate on married life and being the perfect wife...haha.

end.

HA HA - yeah I got some cheese...... and some whine lol!
I know exactly what you mean - I am currently doing the SAME course as a bunch of other people who have previously complete an arts degree, because they have already graduated they are going away with a 'Masters of Social Work' degree, yet I am doing the EXACT SAME work as them (-500 words for one essay) but yet I am only getting a Bachelor of Social Work.. though I do the same work... it's a load of rubbish really because they will be no more qualified than me as a Social Worker - but their piece of paper will say they are!!
It's not really the same as your issue for whinging, but it is kind of lol because at the end of the day, they will probably get a job over me because they have a Masters and not a Bachelor!!! I don't get it.. anyway, I better go get that cheese, and my whine is of a different flavour to you, so I better get a couple of variety's!

I would totally be whining if I was in your shoes. I did my arts degree and then a 2 hour teaching degree and I didn't come out with a 'Masters in teaching...' ripped off! :-) It wouldn't have felt right anyway. How can you be a master of something you haven't even begun anyway?! On another note, I'm with Essie - I totally cracked up at the pic with your excited face. Not very dignified of you Collette!! Hope Hayden's graduation is just as exciting. What an awesome milestone you two lovebirds can share together!!

Ha ha good whine - but at the end of the day what about EXAMS. Surely degrees with exams (like law) top them all. LOL. Just kiddin we love to tease and in all seriousness that really sucks that they get recognised the same way. I love that you are now a Master of Education and soon to be a master of married life!!! ;)

Collette, congrats on obtaining your Masters of Education ... 6 long years of studying and assignments ...

Hadn't realised you were furthering your education - what a workload, courting Hayden, teaching school, studying and looking after the YW ... and finding time to goof off with Elle!

We graduated the same day ... I was in the 11am ceremony. I was counseled not to do a Masters in Marketing or HR as my lecturers told me that they weren't teaching those doing their Masters anything different to what they had been teaching me for my Bachelor course. I also found out 2 1/2 years into my degree, that I could have gone straight to Uni and done my Masters and not worried about doing a Bachelor degree as I had worked for a number of years! Can you understand that?

Great that the both of you could celebrate your graduations together!

All the best in 'Mastering' married life!

From one who has been working on it for 30+ years! :)
